Choosing Sides

Remember in school when the teacher would choose 2 team captains and they chose who would be on their team? It could be near torture waiting to be chosen by one of the captains, especially if you were the last one standing.

It didn't matter if you were the best player on the team or the worst player on the team, first chosen or last chosen, you were expected to do your best because you wanted to be on the winning team. Everyone worked hard and tried to work together toward the goal of winning.

Everyone wants to be on the winning team, even though it takes a lot of work. A LOT of work. Just ask any professional sports player how much work is involved to just be on the team, without a guarantee to win. Look how many teams start a sports season and at the end it comes down to 2 teams...and only 1 takes the championship home.

Well, things have changed since our childhood. You get to choose your team captain and in fact, you can even choose the winning team if you'd like! I highly recommend it; however, you must remember that winners must work very hard. Being on the winning team is not an easy road, but the rewards are eternal.

Satan, the Father of Lies, will make you endless promises trying to entice you to choose his team, but do not fall for his lies. He will make all things evil look good to you, but don't be fooled. Satan lost the battle, he was kicked out of heaven and was finally defeated when Jesus was crucified and died on the cross. His ways lead to peril. No passing go and no collecting $200. Ultimately, he has nothing to offer you but fun and games while on this earth. The easy life.

Jesus, on the other hand, while He expects you to work hard in this life, will be at your side helping you every step of the way. He will help you get to heaven so you can spend eternity with Him and all the angels and saints. Your teammates will support you, lift you up when you are down and pray for you.

You can choose the easy team, the one that doesn't have to work hard; the team that promises many rewards, but ultimately leads to perdition.

You can choose the team that has already won. The team where the players work hard and help each other.

The choice is yours and yours alone.

Are you ready to be a champion?
